Ever thought about getting into the exciting sport of Cowboy Action Shooting but don’t quite know how to start?  Here are five reasons why a New Cowboy Shooter Clinic is a great first step!

  1- Gain Knowledge

At a new shooter clinic, the classroom portion is just as helpful as the actual range experience. This gives new shooters an opportunity to learn about the game, including rules, safety regulations, acceptable gear, and more! It also allows class members to ask any questions they have. Anything you ever wanted to know about Cowboy Action Shooting, but were too afraid to ask, this is the place to do it!

  2- Less Pressure

Let’s face it; regardless of the sport, when you get on the line and you are facing the clock, nerves can go through the roof in an instant, especially if it is your first time competing. The New Shooter Clinic takes the pressure off, while experiencing what it is like to actually shoot a stage. The clock is ticking, and all penalties and procedurals apply, but you can take your time and have some fun knowing that it is everyone’s first time shooting a Cowboy Action stage.

  3- New Pards!

It is a great feeling to walk into a room full of people who you know are just as excited to learn about Cowboy Action Shooting as you are. One of the hallmarks about the sport is that it is full of great folks who are incredibly friendly and welcoming. You may just meet someone at a New Shooter Clinic who becomes a friend that you can join a local club with!

 4 - Slinging Lead

There is no better way to experience the thrill of Cowboy Action Shooting than actually shooting the guns used in the game. The range portion of the class will allow you to use single actions, lever actions, and shotguns that are commonly used in the sport. This is a great way to experience transitioning between guns and different styles of targets in a stage, along with how the loading and unloading process works in the game. Most importantly, have fun getting to shoot classic guns!

5 -The Spirit of the Game

This may be the best part of attending a New Shooter Clinic. ‘The Spirit of the Game’ in Cowboy Action Shooting is what keeps the game friendly, honest, and wholesome. While most shooting sports are competitive to the point of hoping your opponent fails, Cowboy Action Shooting encourages members to support and help one another, and be honest and courteous in all aspects of the game. This level of sportsmanship upheld by good old-fashioned Cowboy ethics, makes the sport so unique and contagiously fun.

If you are considering trying your hand at being a gun-slinging Cowboy or Cowgirl, then contact your local Cowboy Action Shooting club to see if a New Shooters Clinic is offered. You won’t regret it!
