Although proof is lacking that this rifle was issued to soldiers during the Civil War, it saw extensive use in Europe wars during the 1870s. The Zouave was also recognized by experts as one of the better-made long arms of the era. Taylor’s & Co. offers a faithful reproduction of this popular rifle. It features a blue barrel and brass patch box and barrel bands. The case-hardened lock is marked “US,” with an eagle. NSSA approved.

These are excellent range guns but be advised these are pretty much universally hated by Re-Enactors , so if you're using this or a used "Zouave" rifle for any living history etc., you are historically inaccurate. If any of the actual 1863 Remington muskets were issued it was to a few units in DC during the war, they never saw combat. Ask any old head reenactor about "Zouave" rifle repros and you'll likely trigger them :) (Posted on 6/9/2018)
