1866 Rifle

After Nelson King patented his new loading system his 1866 model played a prominent part in the winning of the West. The 1866 model or “Yellowboy,” as it was famously known because of its shiny brass frame, was the successor to the Henry rifle. Production began in 1866 and continued through 1898, a period when both rifles and carbines were introduced. The 1866 rifle features a brass frame, brass forend cap & butt plate, blued & case hardened steel parts, octagonal barrel, dovetail buckhorn rear and front blade sight, and a walnut rifle style butt stock. Love this rifle! Review by Merriam Cowboy

I've got the 20" in 45 Colt, and it's got a glass smooth action, light glass-rod-break crisp trigger, and points/aims/shoots like a dream. At cowboy matches it consistently puts ten rounds on ten targets in about 4 seconds when I'm at my best, and at the range it keeps consistent groups around 2" at 50 yards, and with careful aim can put bullet to iron plate out to 200 yards. The fit and finish are immaculate, and the rifle gets a lot of attention at the local range. Been offered more than I paid for it on several occasions but this beauty ain't for sale!
