1865 Spencer Rifle

Taylor’s is proud to offer a recreation of a firearm first produced by Christopher Miner Spencer, one of the leading figures of the machine tool industry. When Spencer originally produced an 1860 model carbine, it was different from any other firearm. In 1865, the gun maker delivered the 1865 Spencer Carbine, modified to correct flaws inherent in the original 1860 design. The feeding mechanisms in the spencer models are very sensitive to ammo type and overall length so manufactured ammo brands will work better if caliber standards are followed. The Spencer rifle model features a case hardened steel frame and lock, blued & case hardened parts, three barrel bands retained by band springs in the stock, butt stock magazine tube, rear ladder sight, fixed front blade sight, round barrel, front & rear swivels for a sling. A Lot of Fun! Review by John

Bought the Infantry rifle as soon as Tayor's let me pre-order one at Mule Camp in Ga. Great fun to shoot and learned that it will consistently hit as far as my 365 yard rifle range will allow. With practice FBI silhouette targets & 28 inch steel disks are an easy 9 out of 10 hits even with some wind using the factory sights. Real fun began when I started hunting deer with it. Wow! Rolls deer like they're smacked by a truck! With a shoulder or chest area hit they don't get up. Doesn't turn the meat to hamburger. Decided to turned it into an 1866 sporting rifle with a 26 inch barrel to make it easier to carry & handle in a deer stand. I love this gun! (Posted on 2/15/2016)
My Favorite Rifle Review by Big Appy

I was one of the first to purchase the full size rifle when pre-ordering was done at Mule Camp in Ga. I have never regretted putting my name on that list. Over the years I have modified my 56-50 the a sporting rifle like those sold in 1866-1868. It has become my most favorite rifle to shoot and hunt with. I have taken over 20 deer, 1 cow elk and even a good sized black bear with this lovely rifle. I've only used it a few times at a CAS match but when I did it brought out the smile and ahh's from everyone. Accurate and hard hitting yet very comfortable to shoot. What's the down side in that?
