1860 Army Steel

The 1860 Army revolver was adopted as US government ordnance because of its lighter weight, improved balance, and superior ballistics. This 6-shot percussion revolver became very popular with mounted troops and went on to be the issued sidearm for the US Army for many years. The 1860 army steel model features a steel frame, shoulder stock frame cuts and screws, round barrel, fixed front blade sight, ratchet style loading lever, rebated cylinder with a roll engraved navy battle scene, steel backstrap and brass triggerguard, and an Army sized walnut grip. A conversion cylinder is available for this model that is a drop-in conversion to smokeless .45LC/.45Schofield ammunition. The trigger and bolt spring broke a few days in , I love the gun but i'm waiting on a new spring (Posted on 8/3/2019)
I've had mixed luck with Pietta products, but this particular item is exceptional. I chose the 5.5" version and bought a .45 LC conversion cylinder to go with it. The cylinder fit perfectly. The fit, finish, & fubnction of the revolver are all exceptional Review by Steve

Taylor’s seems to have higher quality items than I have gotten from other vendors. Nice oil finish on the grips. Quality reproduction. (Posted on 3/12/2018)

I've been looking for a revolver with the shorter barrel to complement a revolver I have had since the 1970s. This fits nicely, shoots well. An added bonus, I didn't know (read forgot) the older gun's make. Cylinder from this Pietta model is interchangeable wth it, same timing and all. Bonus! (Posted on 3/7/2017)
Nice, but not an Uberti Review by larserik

I own only Ubertis and this is my first Pietta. The mechanical function is rough and catchy, but the outward finish is nice. It shoots great too. I guess I am a little spoiled. But until Uberti makes a cut down of the1860 Army, This little blaster will do just fine. Overall a nice gun for your money (Posted on 10/20/2016)

Excellent in every way Review by Paul R

I've seen and handled a lot of cap and ball revolvers over the years. There was a time that there was a very noticeable difference in quality between the major manufacturers and Pietta was not at the top. Not so any more if this piece is any indication of their quality now days (and from what I've read, it is). The fit and finish is excellent as is function right out of the box. Well done Pietta and thank you Taylor's for stellar sales and service. (Posted on 7/22/2016)
