1860 Army Civilian

The 1860 Army revolver was adopted as US government ordnance because of its lighter weight, improved balance, and superior ballistics. This 6-shot percussion revolver became very popular with mounted troops and went on to be the issued sidearm for the US Army for many years. The 1860 army steel civilian model features a forged steel frame without shoulder stock cuts or screws, round barrel, fixed front blade sight, ratchet style loading lever, rebated cylinder with a roll engraved navy battle scene, brass backstrap and brass triggerguard, and an Army sized walnut grip. A conversion cylinder is available for this model that is a drop-in conversion to smokeless .45LC/.45Schofield ammunition. Beautiful and Accurate Reproduction Review by ColtWalker

This revolver arrived on time and in perfect condition. Cleaned and lubed it (Thompson Center #13 bore cleaner and Bore Butter lube), then off to the range. Shot Traditions .454 "44" lead balls, Cabela's lubed wool patches, over 30 grains of Goex FFFg black powder ignited by Remington #10 percussion caps. Even loaded there was a significant space between the ball and the front of the cylinder. Very accurate ... point of aim was point of impact at 7 yards. Recoil was mild. Cleaning was simple and easy for a black powder revolver. Strongly recommend a capper (capping tool). The only question for me is which revolver to add next?!? (Posted on 8/30/2016)
