Great quality for the price! Review by Merriam Cowboy

I have a few of these beauties, didn't buy from Taylor's but a Pietta is a Pietta. Both were originally the 7 1/2" barrel, but I put the 4 7/8" octagonal barrels one them and they're great shooters. There used to be common problems with this manufacturer with the actions being gritty and of the four I've had, two needed timing and trigger work - not difficult for even an amateur gunsmith. With less than an hour of work, the timing and triggers can be perfect. Pietta used to have a lot of quality issues that made them both unreliable and unsafe, but seems they got it together since. Put a set of quality nipples on them, make sure the action is right, and have fun. I've converted a pair of these with Taylor's conversion cylinder to 45 Colt and love them to death. Finished off with a pair of imitation ivory grips and bright polish on the brass, this makes a pair of elegant, handsome cowboy guns that still cost less than most basic (albeit classic) Peacemaker copies. Keep it clean, take care of it, and learn to load a d maintain it right, and you'll have years of use with these classics. (Posted on 8/17/2019)
