Uberti 1858 Remington .44 Revolver Antique Conversion Cylinder

This antique finish conversion cylinder converts steel frame Uberti 1858 remington revolvers from .44 black powder to .45LC/.45Schofield smokeless ammunition. Taylor's does not recommend shooting ammunition rated above 850 fps in this conversion cylinder. Reloading/loading is done by removing the cylinder and then removing the cylinder cap from the cylinder. The cylinder contains 6 firing pins retained by threaded doughnuts. The cap is reinstalled by lining up the hole in the cap with the silver guide pin on top of the cylinder. If shooting black powder ammunition the firings pins must be removed and cleaned to avoid corrosion. No frame modification is needed, although minor fitting may be required due to gun manufacturer variations. Cylinders ship separate from firearms purchases.

I purchased this cylinder for my Uberti Remington .44 Army. I am not having the fitting issues that some folks have with the Uberti guns, and the cylinder functions and fires flawlessly and is easily removed and replaced. I consider this conversion to be mandatory if you are going to have a gun like this.

The reason for the 4 stars on the Quality... I purchased the antique version of this cylinder on accident in truth, but once I placed it in my gun, I fell in love with the way it made the whole gun look, and as I have a Pietta in the same gun, same caliber, I figured that the antique look was for the best as the cylinders are NOT interchangeable between manufacture of gun. My only real gripe is that to make the cylinder look "antique", it looks as if someone painted over a standard blued cylinder with silver ink in a half hazard manner but didnt bother to do the same to the front of the cylinder. It just looks a little incomplete is all. Regardless, the machining, is sharp, and the function flawless.

I was also pleased to see the price. The last time, I shopped these cylinders for my Remingtons, they were $350 a piece on a different website. (Posted on 3/18/2016)
