This conversion cylinder converts Ruger Old Army revolvers from .44 black powder to .45LC/.45Schofield smokeless ammunition. Taylor's does not recommend shooting ammunition rated above 850 fps in this conversion cylinder. Reloading/loading is done by removing the cylinder and then removing the cylinder cap from the cylinder. The cylinder contains 6 firing pins retained by threaded doughnuts. The cap is reinstalled by lining up the hole in the cap with the silver guide pin on top of the cylinder. If shooting black powder ammunition the firings pins must be removed and cleaned to avoid corrosion. The finish option of fluting is available to have flutes cut into the body of the conversion cylinder or to have a smooth cylinder with no fluting. No frame modification is needed, although minor fitting may be required due to gun manufacturer variations. Cylinders ship separate from firearms purchases.

The R&D conversion cylinder for the Ruger Old Army by Taylor’s & Co. is a thing of pure perfection. It’s design and construction is second to none. Right out of the box it fit perfectly in my early model ROA and worked flawlessly with Cowboy Action loads. Using a 255gn Armscor.45 Colt Cowboy Action Cartridge I was thumping a 6” steel plate at 25yrds with accuracy and consistency. No doubt it performed better than expected. I ran about 20rds through it (5rounds at a time) and inspected the cylinder to find it was not that dirty. The spent casings came out with ease and I was very pleased with that.Price Value Quality
All in all an extremely excellent product at a great value. Well worth the price as you m sure it will give me years of enjoyment.

The cylinder was a bit too long to fit the frame of my ROA. It took around 10 minutes of work with stones to get it to work., but it works now and the fit and finish of the cylinder are great.Quality Price Value

Had to shave a tad off the rear of the firing pin plate & then fit like a glove. Indexes smoothly & very accurate. I like the fact that it holds 6 rounds. Have had to replace 3 firing pin ferrules in about 500 rounds, maybe because they keep coming loose(?). Otherwise would have given 5 stars for quality.
