A cylinder change converts cap and ball revolvers from percussion to cartridge. Now, you can switch back and forth from black powder to centerfire by changing the cylinder. The cylinder and plate fit together without screws or threads, so reloading is simple: pull the cylinder pin, drop the cylinder, and lift off the plate with your fingers. Only certified, 4150 arsenal-grade steel is used in the production of these cylinders and top-plates, to offer superior quality and strength and ensure safety and durability. Use only cowboy ammunition that does not exceed 850 FPS; never use hot or jacketed ammunition. Cowboy ammunition is produced by most manufacturers.

Conversion cylinder works awesome. Had to take a little metal off the frame before cylinder would turn. Now is my new favorite pistol. Shoots like it was built that way. (Posted on 3/30/2016)

I have one of the older versions of this Cyl.. Has to be 13+ years old and has held up very well. The original machining has a chamfer on forward edge of cyl. and I still needed to have some material removed from bottom part of frame for clearance during rotation, about .010. A little blue and you can't even tell.
They fit Piettas over 25 years old. Out shoots Uberti's all day long. The new cyl. just now purchased does not have chamfer but still fits the as the original. Best price out there even though they are the same price or more than the price of the original pistol. (Posted on 1/20/2016)

Great product! A much better (and cleaner) shooting experience using cartridges rather than the time consuming and laborious use of black powder. Will be purchasing another conversion cylinder for my Uberti stainless steel revolver. (Posted on 1/13/2016)

I wanted to wait until actually firing the conversion cylinder to review. Ok here we go. Loading the cylinder into the gun-At first out of the box the fit was tight. This cylinder does take a little finesse to load, but it does get easier over time. Load the cylinder from the left side slightly pull the hammer back and roll the cylinder in, now here’s the trick, I place my index figure on the end of the rod with my thumb and small finger on each side of the cylinder, pull the hammer back slightly wiggle the cylinder while pushing on the rod, it will go right in. After firing about twelve rounds the cylinder wore in and I can almost load blindfolded. As far as firing the gun all I can say is we ran out of ammo at 100 rounds and wanted more, this is fun to shoot and performed flawlessly. It does shoot a little high but does not take long to adjust to, my first shot at forty yards was dead center. Only use as stated in the instructions Colt .45 Cowboy load <850fps. As someone who works in a very high tech machine shop I must say the machining is outstanding! Keep up the good work great product. (Posted on 1/10/2016)

Nice piece of machined steel. Worked as advertised after slight modification to my Pietta 1858 Remington. The pin would not seat in the cylinder due to cylinder making contact with the lower frame. (This was no surprise since the instructions warned of the problem) Five minutes with a Dremel grinding stone and removal of less than 1/64 of metal solved the problem. A few drops of cold bluing and it was ready for service. (Posted on 12/28/2015)

Loads easy. No miss fires . Simple clean up.
wish had conversion for inline muzzle loader.
Only complaint it's about 50 bucks more then what I expected... although I bought a second cylinder on my way home from the range after shooting a box of ammo with my first cylinder. (Posted on 12/16/2015)

I haven't fired it yet, BUT, it appears to be well made with a precision fit of the end cap to the cylinder. With the revolver uncocked, placing it in the revolver is easier from the left side while rotating it in a clockwise motion. Gently move the hammer rearwards a slight amount to lower the cylinder locking bolt. When the cylinder is lined up the cylinder arbor can be returned and some adjusting (wiggling) of the cylinder in place may be required. Return the rammer, place the hammer on half cock and rotate the cylinder. It should rotate freely with the hand making a click every time the cylinder is in battery. I did not need any tools for the cylinder or the revolver. This is truly a 'drop in' cylinder but does require a little finesse when installing it. (Posted on 10/22/2015)

I was worried at first when I was swapping in the conversion cylinder , at first it seemed too big, I kept sliding it in and out and it really seemed to "ware in". With a little pull on the hammer when needed, it would go right in and out much easier. It took about 15 min to totally get used to it. Loading is best pointing the gun downward, which keeps the ram rod, and firing pins down and out of the way. I went to the range the next day, and shot about 30 rounds flawlessly. Very accurate!! I love this conversion cylinder ,and also think it is fine for home defense, I have it locked in my safe , loaded with the hammer resting on an empty cylinder for safety. I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of this revolver. (Posted on 10/4/2015)

The conversion cylinder fets my 1858 Remington perfectly and functions flawlessly. It is easy to load and installs quickly. It is a joy to use. Several of my friends have seen it in action and have ordered or plan to order their own conversion cylinders. (Posted on 9/7/2015)
