A cylinder change converts cap and ball revolvers from percussion to cartridge. Now, you can switch back and forth from black powder to centerfire by changing the cylinder. The cylinder and plate fit together without screws or threads, so reloading is simple: pull the cylinder pin, drop the cylinder, and lift off the plate with your fingers. Only certified, 4150 arsenal-grade steel is used in the production of these cylinders and top-plates, to offer superior quality and strength and ensure safety and durability. Use only cowboy ammunition that does not exceed 850 FPS; never use hot or jacketed ammunition. Cowboy ammunition is produced by most manufacturers. No frame modification is needed, although minor fitting may be required due to gun manufacturer variations.

First-time with the cap an ball revolver. It's fun. Messy. It's fun.
The conversion to 45 Colt Cowboy Action was interesting. Researching possible products came across Taylor & Co.
Found what i was looking for and made the purchase. I have the Pietta 1858 Remington New Army target revolver. Installation was as simple swap. Finish was clean and well made with no modification needed. I will purchase another or two. (Posted on 9/18/2016)

I know some have reported a failure to fit , but I was relieved and delighted to see this conversion cylinder slide right into place without a problem! I have yet to fire the revolver with the new rounds, but I don't think there will be a problem. I'll keep you posted! (Posted on 9/8/2016)

The cylinder was a perfect fit for the revolver, well made and finished nicely with no tooling marks. There was a timing issue with the cylinder indexing backwards if the hammer was released slowly instead of just firing the gun, but that was taken care of by Taylors gunsmith. This was not an issue with the cylinder but with the revolver, minor differences in the guns can cause minor problems. I might add that this adjustment to my revolver was made at no cost to me other than shipping, even though I did not purchase the revolver from Taylor's & Company. These are great folks to do business with as they had a very high regard for customer service. (Posted on 6/29/2016)

I have recently purchased a Pietta 44cal black BP and this cylinder fits it perfectly. The gun fires smoothly and the cylinder functions very well. It is fun to see the stares at the range as I pull out my BP pistol and start loading 45cal LC cartridges. I now have two fully functioning 45 LC revolvers one stainless and the other blue steel. What a very nice pair of pistols. I love these pistols and the attention when at the range. (Posted on 6/20/2016)

Conversion cylinder works awesome. Had to take a little metal off the frame before cylinder would turn. Now is my new favorite pistol. Shoots like it was built that way. (Posted on 3/30/2016)

I have one of the older versions of this Cyl.. Has to be 13+ years old and has held up very well. The original machining has a chamfer on forward edge of cyl. and I still needed to have some material removed from bottom part of frame for clearance during rotation, about .010. A little blue and you can't even tell.
They fit Piettas over 25 years old. Out shoots Uberti's all day long. The new cyl. just now purchased does not have chamfer but still fits the as the original. Best price out there even though they are the same price or more than the price of the original pistol. (Posted on 1/20/2016)

Great product! A much better (and cleaner) shooting experience using cartridges rather than the time consuming and laborious use of black powder. Will be purchasing another conversion cylinder for my Uberti stainless steel revolver. (Posted on 1/13/2016)

I wanted to wait until actually firing the conversion cylinder to review. Ok here we go. Loading the cylinder into the gun-At first out of the box the fit was tight. This cylinder does take a little finesse to load, but it does get easier over time. Load the cylinder from the left side slightly pull the hammer back and roll the cylinder in, now here’s the trick, I place my index figure on the end of the rod with my thumb and small finger on each side of the cylinder, pull the hammer back slightly wiggle the cylinder while pushing on the rod, it will go right in. After firing about twelve rounds the cylinder wore in and I can almost load blindfolded. As far as firing the gun all I can say is we ran out of ammo at 100 rounds and wanted more, this is fun to shoot and performed flawlessly. It does shoot a little high but does not take long to adjust to, my first shot at forty yards was dead center. Only use as stated in the instructions Colt .45 Cowboy load <850fps. As someone who works in a very high tech machine shop I must say the machining is outstanding! Keep up the good work great product. (Posted on 1/10/2016)

Nice piece of machined steel. Worked as advertised after slight modification to my Pietta 1858 Remington. The pin would not seat in the cylinder due to cylinder making contact with the lower frame. (This was no surprise since the instructions warned of the problem) Five minutes with a Dremel grinding stone and removal of less than 1/64 of metal solved the problem. A few drops of cold bluing and it was ready for service. (Posted on 12/28/2015)

Loads easy. No miss fires . Simple clean up.
wish had conversion for inline muzzle loader.
Only complaint it's about 50 bucks more then what I expected... although I bought a second cylinder on my way home from the range after shooting a box of ammo with my first cylinder. (Posted on 12/16/2015)

I love this product, it turns my 1858 Rem into a force to be reckon with. It dose not effect the accuracy though with 255 gr .45 Colts it dose shoot abit high. I have no complaints I love it.
